TURN AN OLD SHOE INTO A JEWELRY SLIPPER!

LOOKING FOR A FUN & FANCIFUL DIY?

SHOEPENDOUS!

We all have a few old shoes that are laying around! It's time to turn them into something fashionable, useful and FUN! In celebration of the last post for QUILL POWER, which highlights how feathers have been used in fashion since the Nethandrathols, turn that old shoe into a Feathered Jewelry Slipper, where you and your girls can showcase your bracelets, necklaces, and rings!

MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Old Shoes

  • NOTE: Before doing anything else, clean the shoes thoroughly. I used Meyer's All Purpose Cleaner.

  • Feathers of all kinds

  • Glue

  • Paint (I used ArtMinds DIY Decor paint, which was perfect!)

  • Knitting yarn (I used Fashion Plus because it looked like feathers.)

  • Scissors

STEP 1

  • After the shoes have been cleaned, paint them your favorite color.

It took me three coats of paint until it looked really attractive!

STEP 2

  • Pour glue into the inside of the shoe and place your favorite yarn inside of it. The yarn will act as a soft pillow for your jewelry.

I ended up gluing three layers of yarn down into the shoe.

STEP 3

  • Here's the FUN part! Take your feathers and design your Jewelry Slipper!

  • Just glue them in whatever way inspires you.

I started by gluing peacock feathers on the sides of shoes.

I had a blast designing this Jewelry Slipper with very colorful feathers ... contrast colors!

Here's another example where I stayed in the turquoise, purple and tangerine color scheme.

STEP 4

  • For the final step, I found a few old clip on earrings. I put them on the front of the slippers to add a little bit of pizzaz.

  • For the finale, I placed a few bracelets and a necklace into the Jewelry Slipper!

This was so much FUN to create ... and easy too!
